"England Quite Safe."
Sir W'm. Treloar was the guest of honour at the Empire Day dinner in [ New York, organised by British residents, Dr. Charles .Baton, a well-known Now York preacher, spoke eloquently about the British Empire and the inherent capacity of the British for solving their problems. " There's no spectacle in all history," lie said, " that can compare with the British Empire, except the Kingdom of Cod. Next to tint Kingdom, it has lived longer and thrived more than any other, and I am glad to say we are drifting back to Great, Britain e von b> this Republic. We buy British castles and British pictures, and whenever a Baptist clergyman changes his ideas lie turns to the 'Episcopal Church." Speaking of the labour difficulties raging in Great Britain Dr Eaton said: " The average British working man thinks more than the ordiriary American college graduate. They have been taught to think, and bcrause of this no Englishman need worry about the outcome of Great Britain's difficulties. The Englishman's heart is right, and right will triumph. Whether you think so or not i'jiiglaiid is perfectly safe."
