ALLEGED AFFILIATION.
At the Magistrate 1 * Court, Bnlclutha, on Wedneedav before J. R. Bartholomew, Esq., SJM., David Hoyse, of Blue Spur, miner, was charged on the information of Mary llurring with being the father of her illegitimate mala child born 18th May. Mr D. Stewart, for defendant, said his client denied paternity. The. summons had only Ijeen served two day.-) ago and the child was born two months ago. The alleged misconduct took place in Lawrence, and as all defendant's witnesses were there ho would a sk for an adjournment to Lawrence.
Mr Grigor objected ; tho complainant's > parents resided here, and it was only right tho caso should be heard here.
His Worship said the girl and her parents wore entitled to lodge their complaint here. Mr Stewart then asked for an adjournment to noxt court day.—Adjourned to 21st August at Balclutha.
