THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

A HEAVY SLUMP REPORTED.

A correspondent, who assures us he has the information from a reliable source, informs n-> that there has been a slump in the wool market at Home to the extent of 2d per lb. This heavy fall in price is, however, not confirmed by any of the cables in reference jjo the London wool sales, which have just been held. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.'s message from their London agents says the market is unchanged for crossbred greasy, and that on merinos there has been a decline of per lb and on crossbred slipe from l£d to Id per lb. Messrs Dalgety aud Co. report having received the following cable from their head office, dated London, 10th July :— "Wool sales opened ; large attendance of buyers ; competition fairly animated ; fair selection. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices for merino avools are at a par to 5 per cent, lower, gieasy crossbred wools on a par, sliped scoured crossbred wools 5 to 7i per cent, lower."
