OTAGO LAND BOARD.

1 - The niraal weekly meeting of the Otego Land Board was held on Wednesday afternoon, when there were present^ the Commissioner of Grown Lands (Mr D. Barron) and Commissioners Clark, Dallas, Duncan and Kirk patrick. Tbe Receiver of Land Kevenue re. ported that James Hill, whose lease in perpetuity 430s was declared forfeited for non-payment of rent, had paid all arrears. — The forfeiture was accordingly held over. A petition was received from a large number of residents in and about the Town of Naseby objecting to the granting of any grnzing rights on what is known as tbe Naseby commonage. — '1 he Board resolved tbat tbe petitioners be requested to define (1) What- is the Naseby commonage ? (2) When it was reserved for that purpose ; and (3) how it is now controlled, and who is reFponsible for rabbiting P Banger Hughan's report on the petition from certain settlers at Maheno againßt tbe granting of a license to A C. Islip over about three acres at Maheno was received, and it was resolved thatthe.petitionersbe informed that after further inquiry the Board bad decided' that no further action should be taken.

Tbe Board decided to bold over tbeir determinationß>as to bow the fol-

lowing sections should be dealt with at the expiry of the, present licenses : —Sections 9, 6, and 13, block 5, Mt Hyde district ; sections 10 and 11, block 5, Mt. Hyde district ; section 8, block 5, and sections 31 and 37, block 4, Mt. Hyde district. Banger Hughan reported on the application by W. E. S. Knight. for an occupation lease under the M.D.L.O. Act over three, acres in block 7, Waipori district. — Granted, subject to survey ; rent to be 2s 6d per acre. Messrs C. Freeman, E. Cameron,, and Thos. M'Lay, Mount Stoker runbolders, wrote withdrawing tbeir application to have a light bridge erected over the Taieri Eiver, and asking that a cage be substituted. — $he application, was received, the Taieri County Councill to be authorised to refimd ' thirds ' and ' fourths ' in roading and the erection of a cage over the Taieri River.

Gk Martin, secretary Tabakopa, Vigilance Committee, wrote asking that the licenses to cat sleepers along, the Owaka-Waikawa road be withdrawn on account of the damage done to the roads through the carting of the sleepers. — The board decided that as the licensea^had beau, granted, they could not deal with the matter, but the committee- are to be informed that no further licenses will be issued for pome time.

Tt was decided tp~appoint Mr Kirkpatrick and' the Chief Commissioner to inspect and value all the improved farm settlements and report to the board.
