Mokitzson and Co., Donedin, report (wholesale) »s follows for (be week ending January 15tb, 1902 (all quotations snbjeot to market fluctuation*) :— We would ask farmer* (when sending samples) always to pat a price on tbem, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers. Wheat.— The market is active. Fowl feed is in active demand. We quote — Best velvet 3s 2d, best Tuscan 3a 2d, red chaff 3s 2d, fowls wheat 3s for best. Oato are in better demand. Prime milling 2« 51 ; bright short 2s 4£d to 2i sd, medinm and inferior 2* to 2s 4d. B«rley — Feed sorts 2s to 2s 3d, malting 2s 4d to 3s, extra to 3s 6d. Obaff— We quote prime £1 54, medium £3 to £3 15s per ton. Byegram— There is a keen demand. We quote — Farmer^dressed, none off riog ; macbinedressed 3* 3J to 4s 3 J per bnshel. -Cocksfoot, 2£d to 3^4 for farmers' lots, and 3}d to4&d for maobined, linseed £16 to £17— wauted,pressed straw £1 5t, olover bay £3 ss. Babbitskins— We offered a fair catalogue tbia week, when competition was good. We quote— Suckers and runners 3J to 4sd, summers 6d to Bfcd, autumns 9Jd to HAd, outgoings 6£d to 12id, winteia 14d to 17d, selected 17Jd — sale every Monday. SbeeDskins— We quote— Pelts 61 to Is, orombreda 2s to 3s 6 J, balfbreds 2s 3d to 4s 6d —sale every Tuesday. Hides 3sd to s|d, acoording to weight and , condition. We have a special inquiry and can guarantee the very top market prices. Tallow— Rough fat 13s 6d, rendered 16s to 20s. Horsehair Is Id to Is 2d. Wool— We held our firnt sale of the season in the Agricultural Hall on Thursday. There vu a very Urge attendance of buyers, and competition throughout was keen for all de•oriptions of good wools. Merinor, balfbreds and fine orossbreds met with special attention, and for such prices. realised were considerably better than anticipated. Oo»rse and earthy description! were not sought after and for snob bidding was very lifeless. All pieces were eagerly* competed for,- being mostly taken by fellmongera. Owing to the j very broken weather and 'he fact tbat grow ers were holding back their wool to sea bow prices were to rale, the catalogues offered were very small.
