WEDDING AT WAITAHUNA.

BSCOTT-O'KANE.

The marriage of Miss Ellen O'Kane, second youDgest daughter of the late Mr Patrick O'Kane, Waitahuna, to Mr Thomas Escott, Dunedin, was celebrated at the residence of the bride's brother-in-law, Mr J. J. Byan, on Wednesday last, January Bth, and proved a pretty function. The Rev. Father Geary officiated. The bridesmaids were Misses J*ranpes O'Kane, M. Cameron, and K^Greenie, while Mr Escott "attended the bridegroom in the capacity of best man. The ceremony over, the guests, about 30 in number, sat down to a sumptuous wedding breakfast. The fiev. Father Geary proposed the health of tbe newly wedded couple in a felicitous speech, wishiog them all luck and prosperity in their future career. In the evening a dance was held in the Good Templars' Hall and attended by over 200 guests.. A number of songs were suog and a most enjoyable time was Ep'ent by all present, tbe utmost good feeling prevailing, an abundance of first--class refreshments were handed round at intervals. The presents were exceptionally numerous including two or three purses of sovereign?. The young people left Waitahuna by the 3.2opJm. en route for Chriatphurch amidst* showers of rice and' good wishes from a large number assembled to see tbemoff.
