T.M.R. v. CITIZENS.

As the result ot a challenge from the Citizens of Lawrence to. the Tuapejca Mounted Bif|es a shooting match was fired at the Wetherstones range on Wednesday afternoon. The weather was fine with a strong gusty wind blowing, and the new *303 magazine rifles were used. The ranges selected were 200 yds, 300 yds, and 500 yds, seven shots and a sighter on each range, and 12 men aside. The competition throughout was very close and some yery good' scores were recorded. Most of the Citizens who fired are ex-volunteers, and their shooting goes to prove that the time they spent volunteering has not been wasted. The highest scorer is claimed by the Citizens, Mr A. W. Robertson putting on the Bplendid score of 92, out of a possible of 105, All tbe contestants were well pleased with the rifles, while those who had formerly been used to the Snider rifles thoroughly appreciated the difference, The result was a win for the T.M.R. by 59 points.
