SPORTS AT TUAPEKA MOUTH,

3 ports were held at Tuapeka Moutb on New Year's Day. The day proved fine though slightly chilly and a large crowd gathered from all the surrounding districts. There was good competition in the various events, each man doing bis best to win the honor and money. Prize list : —

' ' B,est Jumping Hack.— for tftis event there were 12 entries, but they gave a very poor display of jumping, and the }st and 2n4 money was' finally divided between two' of them. The dance in the eyenipg was $ great success bat the schoolroom was crowded to excess and again showed the necessity of a hall.

The annual children's pionip was held on the S>4 and some good competition was again seen and those present spent a very enjoyable afternpon. Mu.ph of the Bjjppes.s' of j;he meeting was <Jue to. the energy at the treasurer Mr A* Telfer, and the secretary Mr Jno. Drain, but the whole committee worked hard to make it a success.
