PRESENTATION TO MR W. J. LESLIE.
On Saturday eyenipg^ a number of the citizens and fellow railway employes of Mr Leslie, who for the past nine years has been attached to the Locomotive Department at Lawrence and wfco }s now transferred to Little River, entertained him at a farewell social in Kelleher'? Railway Hotel. Mr B. Winn presided and in proposing the health of their guests spoke of the many good qualities Mr Leslie had shown daring bis residence among them. In every respect be had proved a, worthy citizen and they all wished him every success and happiness jn his new sphere. He then called upon Mr Q. Black to make the presentation. Mr Black in presenting Mr Leslie with a handsome gold-mounted umbrella and travelling portmanteau spoke of the amicable cetoljonship that had always existed between Mr Leslie and his fellow employes and complimented him on hiß permanent appointment to the position of engine-driver. Messrs Findlay, G. Poison. G. Apple.gartbj And Symes (fellow employees) endorsed tba remarks of the previous speakers as to Mr fcesjie's abilities as a : workman and social qualities, ; Mr Leslie tbanked all present for the many complimentary remarks in regard to himself and also for their very handsome gifts whioh were wholly unexpected. Hia residenoe in ,the district ■ and association with his fejlow em* ployees had been very happy and would never he thought be effaced from his memory. A- number of other toasts were duly honored *wJ songs were sang by Messrs Mason, J. &»tbjßrJend, Appjegartb, Saunderson and Patenao, Altogether a very enjoyable evening was spent, the ; company breaking np shortly before 11 o'clock. f . • ■ j
