Mr D. At a meeting of shareholders in the defunct x Otama Gold Dredging Company on Saturday last it is understood it was decided to take proceeding* against the directors for damages owing to alleged maladministration of the oompany's affairs. The contention of the shareholders appears to be that tha directors, in buyiDg the Enterprise Gully dredge, paid an excessive Bum (£4,000) for her, that the machine was unsuitable for the work required to be performed, and that the purchase was carried out against the advice and designs of the oompany's engineer. The Golden Falls and Golden Channel Cos. have decided on liquidation. Thursday's " Alexandra Herald " says tha river waa s|!t above " normal " on WednelP* day, and too muou drift waa travelling to allow of successful dredging in most gorge olainr?. " Thd Minister of Mines is not insisting on three engineers being employed on each dredge, and intends to amend the Aot so as to make it quite clear that such is not' necessary." The Witahuna Gully Co. last night con- - firmed the special resolution to increase the - capital by 1,750 preference shares. About a dozen shareholders, representing 2,100 shares, __ were present. The seoretary was instructed "" to communicate with the creditors of the - Company, asking them, in view of the capl-
