The stakes are sufficiently high to induce the owners of some horses of note in up-coun-try sporting circles to enter tbe lists, and tbe names of the stewards, from Mr Hugh Craig, President of the Club, downwards,is a guaran* tee that only straight running will be tolerated, and the public may accordingly look for a genuine day's sport. The track also is in capital order, the Club having gone to considerable expense 'and trouble iv bringing it to its present state of perfection. It may also be added that the comfort of the public will te attended to with regard to seating accom* raodation on the hill overlooking the course, and as there is every probability of fine wea. ther, a large attendance of the public may be totHJeDtty expected. Th Club deserve this, is they have spared neither expense nor trouble to make the meeting what it actually <■« — the best up-country race meeting in tbe Province. Arrangements have been made for the running of a special train from Dunedin to Lawrence on Wednesday at excursion fares, which are available for a week.
