ELECTION PETITIONS.
The petition lodged against Mr G. Fisher's election for Wellington City is on the ground of dual voting, personation, undue influence and want of secresy in the ballot The question of his.ltalian Consulship is > ofc raised
The ground of the petition against Mr Wilford's return /or the Wellington suburbs seat is alleged bribery. A further ground asainsb Air Wilford is thai he is disqualified under clause 2 of the Electoral Act Amendment Ac', 1896.
Later news says that Messrs Morrison and Louglman, the solicitors who are acting for the petitioners against Messrs Wilford and* Fisher, lodged tbe necessary security of £200 iv each instance.
A petition has also been lodged against tho return of Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.H.R. for Wairarapa, on the ground of -tho improper refusal by the returningofficor of Mr Colemiin Phillipps' nomination, and of bribery, corruption, intimiclation, etc.
