RELEASED BANK PRISONERS.
The 'Sydney Evening News' gives the following particulars regarding the batch of bank prisoners lately released from gaol : — Francis Abigail, convicted on 3rd November, 1892, on a charge of conspiring to issue a false balance-sheet in connection with the Australian Banking Company, and sentenced to five years' hard labor— sentence served, two years six months and twentynine days. Francis William Addy, convicted on 19th February, 1892, on a charge of having fraudulently appropriated property of the British and New South Wales Investment and Financial Company, Limited, and sentenced to five years' penal servitude — sentence served, three years three months and thirteen days. James Peter Howe and James Miller, convicted on 31st October, 1891, on a charge of having conspired to defraud the Australian Mercantile Loan and Guarantee Company, Limited, and sentenced each to seven years' hard labor— sentence served in each case, three years and seven months. William Percy Smairl, convicted on 12th February, 1892, on a charge of having embezzled money belonging to the Imperial Land, Building, and Deposit Company, Limited, and sentenced to five years' penal servitude — sentence served three years three months and twenty days. Andrew Fitzgerald, convicted on 18th February, 1892, on a charge of having, as managing director of the Trades and Labor Co-operative Store Company, fraudulently appropriated property of the company, and sentenced to five years' penal servitude — sentence served, three years three months and fourteen days.
