LOCAL SALES. Mr John Thompson reports that his special sheep fair, held at his yards, Beaumont road, on Thursday, was largely attended by buyers from all parts of Tuapeka, Bruce, and Clutha Counties, and that it passed off in a most satisfactory manner. The number of sheep disposed of was 3,841-, in addition to 48 rams, the competition throughout being very brisk. The prices realised were as follow : — Merino ewes, 4s to 8s 6d ; crossbred ewes, 8s to 12s 6d; crossbred wethers, 10s to 12s 3d ; fat sheep, Jlb6d to 12s 4d ; lambs, 8s lid to 9s sd, one pen of culls bringing 7s. The demand for rams exceeded the supply, competition being very keen, prices running as high as 5J guineas. Mr J. C. AasucKLE reports having sold privately during the week 450 crossbred ewes at lla Id and 600 merino ewes at 5 5 6d ; also, by auction, at Raes Junction and luapeka Flat, cull lambs at 5s 7d ; crossbred ewes at 9s 3d to 12s 3d ; draught horses £9 to £15 and hacks £8 ; pigs, 8s to 13s.
