EASTER MONDAY AT ROXBURGH.
Tho Roman Catholic congregation of Roxburgh and district held their usual anniversary picnic on the recreation reserve on Easter Monday. There was a fairly numerous gathering, under a good committee, and all present enjoyed themselves well. A new feature was the Maypole dance of the Old Country, which was exceedingly well done. The usual sports, etc. /took place at intervals during the afternoon. A dance was advertised for the evening as usual. The following are the results of the sports : —
Girls' Handicap Footrace (under ten.) — Kate o'Bnen 1, Rhoda Weatherall 2, Maude Waters 3.
Boys' Handicap Footrace (under ten). — Albert Harris 1, Albert Orr 2, Thos. Waight Girls' Footrace (under sixteen) — Anne M'Kenzie 1, Agnes Malone 2, Jane Swanwick 3.
Boys' Race (under sixteen).— Chas. Robinson 1, Alex. Campbell 2, Ralph Beaufort Boys' Manx Race /under sixteen).— Geo. Campbell and W. M'Kenzie 1, Thos. Kitto and W. De Silva 2, P. Orr and Thos. Cros. San 3.
Girls' Race (under ten). — Mina Weatherall 1, Annie Campbell 2, Frances Whiting 3. Boys' Sack Race (under sixteeu).— Chas. Harris 1. , Girls' Race (under sixteen). — May Stringer 1, Jane M'Kenzie 2, Bessie Gray 3
Boys' Race (under ten). — John Robinson 1, Wm. Telford 2, W. Gray 3. Boys' Manx Race. — H. Curtiss and F. Laloli 1, R. Wilson and A. Campbell 2. Married Ladies' Race. — Mrs W. Weatherall (box of tea) 1.
