THE INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.

CANTEBBUEY v, OTAGO. (From our own Correspondent.) m , Dunedin, March 7th. The annual intercolonial cricket match Ljanterbury v. Otago, was commenced at the Cansbrook grounds this forenoon. Otago won the toss, and elected to send their opponents to the wickets. In their first innings, Canterbury obtained 71 runs, the highest scorers being Mathias 16, Labatt 13, and Helmore 10. The Otago team made 117 runs in their first innings. At the fall of the eighth wicket the score stood at 76, but M'Farlane managed to keep up his wicket, while Doret scored. The latter played a most serviceable innings of 15, while Frith carried out his bat for 8 runs. Canterbury in their second innings, when the stumps were drawn for the day, had scored 57 runs. The match, therefore, looks like a foregone conclusion for Otago.
