MOTHS : HOW TO GET RID OF THEM.

In packing away either summer or winter clothing it should be thoroughly aired out of doors for several hours. The best method of doing this is to hang the clothes on a line in a rather shady place. Each garment should be inspected, and any dust that has accumulated ia the folds or in the pockets removed. Give a thorough brushing, and where moths are suspected place a clean, damp doth over the spot and press with a hot iron. The steam will penetrate every fibre and kill whatever life is hidden there. If the garments are to be placed in a chest, fumigate it with sulphur. Place a dish of bright coals inside, sprinkle plentifully with sulphur and close the lid. When the coals have become cold remove and place in the clothes. Treated in this way they will remain free from moths any length of time. It is useless to pack goods away if the moths eggs are in them, and they are certain to eat their way through in time. To prevent; moths from attacking upholstered furniture fasten under the seats small bags filled with camphor. If it is known there are moths in the hair filling the, only way to get rid of them is to send them to a furniture dealer to take apart, put through a benzine bath and re-upholster. Furniture stuffed with hair is seldom found free from moths. The hair is allowed to lie in warehouses without any precaution being taken to keep it free from these pests, and when wanted for use is seldom looked over ; so it goes into the furniture filled with eggs.
