CROWN LANDS SALE.

[By Telegraph.]

(From our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, February 28th. The attendance at the sale of runs at the Land Office to-day was large, and competition in many cases brisk. All the runs, with the exception of 421, 421 a, and 429 b, were disposed of, principally to the present lessees. Competition was very keen for runs 121, 121 a, 121 b, 121 c, and 121 d, which realised rentals largely in advance of those at present paid. The other .runs for which there was competition were 170 A, 247 D, 308 a, 258, 258 a, and the surveyed sections in the Cairn HiD, Teviot, and Maniofcoto districts. In some cases there were big drops in the rentals. This may be explained from the fact that in 1882, when the runs were last offered, wool was much higher than now, and then in many cases the leases fetched fictitious values. The following runs in the Tuapeka and neighbouring districts were disposed of : — TUAPEKA COUNTY. Eun2, Bellamy station— S. Henry, at upset rental, £77 Is 8d per annum. Ban 137 a, Bellamy station— S. Henry, upset rental, £75 per annum. Bun 170 a, Beaumont station— J. Sutherland, £205 • previous rental, £160. Bun 199, Teviot station— Present lessees, who gave £390 for the whole run.
