The leavea should not bs braised or broken in handling, and thoy must therefore be bandied with care. Sometimes the siem is spiit from tha top down to within sixteen inches of the ground before cutting. Tdcss who follow this practice say that the tobacco cures better. When this is the practice iho tobacco is huag astride the stocks. When the plaaia are nob split they sre samotimee railed and sometimes tied to the stockf. The leaves are stripped from the stem as soon &s the curing ia complete, and -assorted into grades. To grow tobacco on a large scale will require mor6 knowledge than v?e can give, and were than cas be got frora any work on the puljset that is published.
