This Company has been reconstituted on a sounder and more economical basis, and the claim-holders -namely, Anderson and party, Waigth and party, and Pyke and partyhaving agreed to accept fully paid up shares in lieu of cash as payment for their properties, rights, and interests, the whole of the money contributed by the public will be devoted to the construction of the works and the necessary appliances for hydraulic sluicing, and no part of it will be paid to the vendors or promoters. The several properties offered are asfollow :— 1. Dam Site at Dismal Swamp, held under grant from Warden's Court. This magnificent Natural Reservoir is situated on the Lammeiiaw Range, at an elevation of 2,500 feet. The Teviot River, the Troutburn, the i Slowburn, and other streams flow into and through it It is estimated by the Vincent County engineer, Mr Macgeorge, M. Inst. C.E., London, that " with a depth of 28 feet of water at the dam, an area of 1,500 acres will be covered " ; and that "the quantity of water impounded, with an average depth of 10 feet over the whole area, will be 653,400,000 cubical feet, equal to a supply of 50 Government heads of water for 151 days of 24 hours." Where the river debouches from thereservoir, the gorge is only about 30 feet in width, thus offering unusual facilities for the storage of a practically inexhaustible supply of water at comparatively small expense. 2. Two Dams of three acres each and One Dam of two acres, for. working purposes, already constructed on Teviot Flat, held under certificates from Warden's Court. 3. Water Races.— A grant for 50 Government heads has been secured in the Warden's Court. In addition there are Two Races already constructed, carrying" 18 Government heads of water, and including the Ist, 3rd, and sth rights from the Teviot River, held under certificates. The whole comprises a right to 68 Government heads of water, giving a continuous supply, with good fall, and consequently strong pressure. 4. Tail Races.— There are Four Tail Races, held under certificates, the property of the claim-owners. 5. Special Claim of 90 acres, subject to survey, held under grant from Warden's Court, approved by the Hon. Minister of Mines. 6. Extended Claim of 6 acres, held under certificate. 7. Extended Claim of 6 acres, held under certificate. 8. Extended Claim of 4 acres, held under certificate. 9. Extended Claim of 1 acre, held under certificate. Making in all a compact block of 107 acres of auriferous alluvial ground, bounded by the Clutha and Teviot Rivers. The River Frontages to this ground have been profitably wrought for nearly 23 years, and so far only about 12 acres have been operated upon by the crude appliances in use. It may therefore be fairly estimated that even with improved hydraulic processes, and a much larger supply of water, it will take the best part of a century to exhaust these valuable claims. So thoroughly is gold distributed through the wash, that it is found in almost every shovelful taken out. The bottom is now dipping into the Flat, and getting too deep for individual mining. Ancient beds and channels of the Clutha River are believed by such eminent geologists as Professor Ulrich, Sir James Hector, by Mr Gordon, the Government Mining Inspector, and by competent mining experts, to exist in the ground now being entered upon, and present appearances confirm that opinion. It is therefore anticipated that very rich deposits will shortly be struck. Plant. — The working plant already on the ground is of the estimated value of £1,000, and by the use of these appliances the Company will be in a position to obtain gold from the day upon which possession is taken. As a large number of shares have already been applied for, early application is necessary. No application for less than 20 shares will be received. Any further particulars may be obtained from the Brokers of the Company. The Sharelist will be closed early in February. £2 EEWARD. HTEAYED, from Waitahuna Commonage, ® about six weeks ago, FIVE CALVES (yearlings), branded 99 on off rump. The above reward will be given on the return of the Calves to ROBERT BBUCE, Waitahuna Boad.
