RIFLE CONTEST.
WAITAHUNA V. TUAPEKA.
A. friendly contest between teams selected from the above corps was fired on the Wetherstones range on Saturday afternoon, resulting in a win for the Waitahuna men by 14 pom ts. Unfortunately, a number of the beat shots of the Tuapeka corps were unable to get away, Saturday being an awkward day. However, it is not correct to make excuses for defeat ; and so, whatever the circumstances, the fact remains that the Waitahuna meu went home victors. Though a strong wind prevailed throughout the match, the shooting on the average was very good.
