OPENING OF THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

(Renter's Special.) London, September 6th.

The fourth of the series of colonial wool sales for the current year commenced today before a good attendance of home and foreign buyers. The catalogues for the day comprised 8300 bales, for which there was fair competition. Prices ruled about tbe same as the closing rates of last sales.

(Special to Press Association.) London, September 6th. The wool sales opened to-day. Messrs Charles Balme and Co. and Jacomb and Sons' joint catalogue comprised 18,280 bales, chiefly New South Wales, New Zealand, and Cape. There was a full attendance of buyers and bidding was spirited, the last series, prices being generally maintained. Crossbreds are very firm, but Australian faulty scoured and Cape wool are slightly lower. The total available fox the series is 287,000 bales,
