THE LATE FIRE.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln your report of the fire which destroyed my blacksmith shop on Saturday last, I observe you state that" Mr MHdlemiss succeeded in getting out his tools and part of bis stock-in-trade." This statement I wish to contradict, as all the stock and toolß whioh I was able to save, owing to the rapidity with which the fire raged, consisted of a set of stoks and dies, a wheelbarrow, and a grindstone which was standing outside the shop on tbe footpath. All my other tools and stock* in-trade were destroyed or damaged; They were in the place in which they were left on the evening before the fire when I left off work, and so far as I know are to be found on the premises at the present time. —I am, &c, J. W. Middiemiss.
