CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. Report for the week ending Friday, Bth January : — Report* from the country districts give a light yield of oats and barley, but the wheat is looking fairly well up to this date. Oats are being harvested in what are known as tbe early districts, but the samples will be thin on aocount of being ripened prematurely with tb« hot, dry weather. Prime milling wheat has .rather an easy tendency. Home shipper! are unable to gnt over 3s to 3s 2d, and local and intercolonial trade is slow for the time being. Quotations are 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; second quality are moving off at 2s lOd to 3s. Chick-wheat has buyers at 2s 9d. Oats denote a firm tone for good, bright lines. Inquiries come from outside, but prices cannot be put higher than those of last week. Barley is quiet : only occasional sales of malting can be recorded, ab lOd to 2g.
