(Renter's Special.) Melbourne, February lijtb. Universal sorrow is shown at tbe death of General Gordon. The flags on public and other buildings are at half-mast. Sydney, February 12th. A Cabinet Council held to-day decided to make an offer to the Imperial Government to despatch from New South Wales to Suakitn within a month two batteries ' of artillery, properly horsed, and a battalion of infantry 500 strong .to form | part of the expedition to the Sotidan. Considerable excitement -prevails here in consequence of the .decision .of the Government.
