(From our own Correspondent.) Vvnevix, January 6th. Vandyke has been found guilty of shooting with intent at Miss Wadsworfch, and has been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. A fatal accident occurred to a man named Enoch Jones, fireman on board the Iron Age. Jt is supposed that in the passage from the stoke-hole, he fell among the machinery and was struck by part of it. He wag a married man, and leaves a wife and five children. A disastrous fire has occurred at Boatmans, West Coast, by which several of, i the sufferers are nearly ruined. Ifc is not' m known whether any loss of life had occurred. At present one man iff missing. Reeftos, January §th, A fire broke out this evening at 6 o'clock at Walker's Hotel, Boatmans and up tp the present time nine houses are reported to be destroyed, and the fire is still raging. The places burned include Walker's Hotel, Nelson Hotel, Gallagher's store, Ferris' store, Caster's (bootmaker), Duff's (butcher), and other places. The fire, is said to be now threatening Archer's Hotel. There is no water supply or fire brigade at Boatmans. Mrs Burke'g HoteJ is amongst those destroyed. The insurances are not large. The Standard Company are probably the greatest losers, It is expected that France will shortly auuei the New Hebrides.
