CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. Rjport for the week endiug the 2nd Januatv :—: —
The tone of the grain and produce markets has in no way improved during the last fortnight, and few transactions have taken placp. To some extent, this may be owing to the holiday?, although it is scarcely to be expected that matters will impi'ove much before the harvist comes forward. Hard wheats are still in demand, but few suitable samples are to be obtained. Oats have again dropped, and are not likely to recover in the face of the new crop, which will soon be put on the market. Barley, although quoted nominally, is practically out of stock, except for feed purposes. Dairy produce remains unaltered. Quotations are as follow :—: —
Wheat, 3s to 3s 3d (f.0.b.); chick feed, Is 6d to 2s.
X)als.— Prime milling, 2s 7d to 2s !H ; short feed, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; long, Is to 2s 3d (f.0.b.) Barley. — Malting, nominally, 3s 6d to 4sj feed, 2s to 2s 3d (Christchurch.)
