CHRISTCHTRCH MARKETS. The "Press" of Saturlay reports on the grain and produce market! as follows : Ihe wet muggy weather has had a decidedlj weakening effect upon the wheat market for the past week. Grave doubts are now entertained as to whether much of the season's wheat will be fit to stand the long voyage to England,ne for the past moath or two there has been scarcely any drying weather to Bpeak of. This is a very serious matter indeed, and far* men who are shipping on their own account will do well to use the utmost care when sending away their parcels. There has been a good enquiry for oats from the other side and transactions have been fairly numerous ; values, however, do not show much alteration. , Wheat. — We haTe no variation to report in last week's values. Sound Tu;c<in is quoted at 3s 6d, f.0.b., and pesrl and Hunter's at 3s 4id and 3s 3d f.0.b., respectively, but transactions during the week have been comparatively restricted considering tbat the season should be at its height. Oats.— There is a good inquiry for this cereal, and a fair business has passed. Choice milling is quoted at 2s to 2s o£d, f.o.b. Good stout feed ranges from Is lOd to Is lid, f.o.b. Barley is decidedly easier, owing to larger quantites offering than was antcipated ; buyers are now offering at 3s lOd, probably for a choice sample a trifle' more could be obtained. Grass Seeds. — We have no alteration toreport on last week's values. Cocksfoot is quoted at 3}d to 3fd in Lyttleton, and ry? grass ranges from 2s 9d to 3s 6d, according to quality and dressing. Dairy Produce.— Butter is in short supply at 9d to lOd. Cheese remains dull at 3£d to 9d.
