The Press Agency floods us with heaps of telegraphic rubbish from all parts — Hong Kong even now has been requisitioned for the purpose— but events in which we are really interested are too often passed over as not worthy of notice. Thus the election of a member for Timiru iv the room of the Hon. Mr Stafford took place on Monday, but the Agency did not think it necessary to telegraph the fact. If after 'an opportunity were given to property-holders to tax property in proportion to other things, and they refused to do so, he should then support a measure for the extension of {he franchise.
