TUAPEKA ATHENAEUM.
j A speciJ meeting of the Athenteum .Committee was held on the 19th inst. . Present : Messrs J. C. Brown (president) in the chair, Herbert, APKinlay, Copland, Harrop, Johnston, M'Lean, and Stenhouse. Some misunderstanding had OQuurred between the Committee and the manager of Bellamy Station regarding the division fence. Mr Anderson, who was in attendence, stated that he meant ct gorse quicks," when speaking of quicks to be planted on the division fence by Mr Hogg. Mr Copland moved, and Mr Herbert seconded, " That gorse quicks be planted on the fence to be erected on the reserve." Mr Harrop moved as an amendment, "That the word 'quicks' be deleted, and the words ' gorse plants ' Be inserted'in lieu of the resolution passed at the last meeting. The amendment was carried. A letter was received from the agent of the Bank of New Zealand, acceding to the request of the Committee for an overdraft to the extent of £20Q ; and a motion to the effect that the offer be received, was passed. Mr Harrop moved, and Mr Herbert seconded, ," That the motion re giving notice to the landowners having property adjoining, the reserve, to. fence, be acted on."— Carried. On the motion of Mr
Herbert, seconded by Mr Johnston, the .■ Secretary was instructed to write to Messrs Tubman and M'Comb,* requesting them to attend the next meeting of Commiatee, to confer as to fencing their boundaries. — Carried. The meeting then closed. ,
