Sir, — Would you believe it, "there is actually a, testimonial being signed by the stewards of/ the Tokomairiro races* testifying that the- jockey Reay did run his horses honestly this yaar at Tokomairiro 1 Heavens has it como to that ? Is Tokoracing morality at so low an obb. that it is necessary to give a testimonial to any jockey, trainer, or owner for having, in the opinion of the stewards, ran his horse or horses honestly 1 This precious testimonial implies oue o£ two thiugs~-either that Reay was the only jockey who did run hia horses honestly at the late Toko, races, and is therefore deserving of the thanks of the stewards, which directly implies dishonesty to all owners, trainers, or jockeys who had the misfortune to have had. anything to do with, horses at. the.
last Tokomairiro race meeting ; or the stewards wish the world to know that Reay this year at Tokomairiro ran his horses honestly, thereby implying that, to tho best of their knowledge and belief, this is the first time that he has ever done so.
