(2IXTY YEARS AGO (from the "Star” ° of June 29, 1875) Racecourse and Southbrklge Railway.— It is more than probable that another change will take place in the date of the public demonstration at to celebrate the opening of the line. \\ hen Tuly 20 was decided on, the fact was overlooked that his Honor the Superintendent, three members of the Executive, and others who were invited to take part in the opening ceremony, would have left for \\ ellington to attend the session of the General Assemblv. Under these circumstances it is very likely that July 13 will be the day on which the formal opening of the line will St Gotthard Tunnel.—The St Gotthard tunnel, which is to be used to establish direct railway communication between Switzerland and Germany, is making slow but steady progress. The sum of £1,250,000 has been already expended, and 2000 yards have been constructed.
