Ovation for Champion at Wimbledon. (Continued from Page 1.) United Press Assn.—By Telegraph Copyright. (Aeceived June 25, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 24. At the opening of the Wimbledon championships, the temperature at one time exceeded 84 degrees. Perry was in the first match on the centre court. He received a great ovation from the enormous crowd of enthusiasts. Additional results in the men’s singles were:— Gene Maka (US.) defeated Jones (England) 7-5, 6-3, 4-6. 6-4. Smith (Norway) beat G. Littleton Rogers (Ireland) 5-7, 6-1. 6-3. 9-11.
