At the opening of the Wimbledon championships, the temperature at one time exceeded 84 degrees. Perry was in the first match on the centre court. He received a great ovation from the enormous crowd of enthusiasts. Additional results in the men’s singles were:— Gene Maka (US.) defeated Jones (England) 7-5, 6-3, 4-6. 6-4. Smith (Norway) beat G. Littleton Rogers (Ireland) 5-7, 6-1. 6-3. 9-11.
