Replaces Radium.
New X-Ray Tube Installed in London Hospital. LONDON, June 24. “News-Chronicle” says that the Fulham Cancer Hospital has installed a new X-ray tube which, at a cost of £7OO, treats cancer as effectively as radium, which costs £IO,OOO a gramme. The apparatus, which invented in Germany, where further radium purchases could not be afforded. Fifty thousand persons die annually from cancer in Great Britain. The Fulham authorities anticipate that all patients can be treated from now on.
