CYCLING.

Federation’s New Chairman Installed. A meeting of the New Zealand •Cycling Federation was held last evening. The deputy-chairman (Mr .T. M. Coffey) presided until the newly-elected chairman (Mr E. F. C. Hinds) had been welcomed. Mr Coffey, in extending a welcome to Mr Hinds, said that the federation was fortunate in having him to accept the chairmanship, for he was a well-known sport. Returning thanks, Mr Hinds appealed for tlie support of the representatives of both cash and amateur cycling. Members congratulated Mr Hinds on his election to the position and assured him of their co-operation. A letter was received from the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association stating that the association had decided to approach the federation in regard to the arranging of a tour of the Dominion from overseas. The seoetary (Mr H. D. London) said that he presumed the association’s decision was the preliminary of an effort to secure a visit from Australia. It was resolved to reply that the federation would do all in its power to encourage an overseas visit which, however, would be the financial risk and the responsibility of the association or body applying for the riders. Saturday, September 14, was approved as the date for the New Zealand fifty miles road cash championship, to be conducted by the Otago Athletic and Cycling Club.
