NEWEST AERO ENGINE.
England-Australia Non-stop Flight. LONDON. June 22. The “Morning Post” says: “A nonstop flight from England to Australia may be possible at a not-far-distant date with new, low-consumption aero engines which are now the subject of experiments. “Full details are withheld, but it is stated that new British air-cooled, sleeve-valve engines have shown a much lower petrol and oil consumption. “A ( British attempt to break the world’s long-distance non-stop record is not imminent, but, if the figures realised on the test bench can be reproduced in flight, Great Britain has a good chance of obtaining the record by a wide margin.”
