MELBOURNE. June 23. Coinmenting on the statement by United States Post Office officials, cabled last week. that, with a transpacific air mail route to China already a probability, a service to Hawaii. New Zealand and Australia was in view, the Australian Postmaster-General (Senator McLachlan) expressed the opinion that an air mail service between the United States and Australia, via Hawaii. Fiji and New Zealand, was inevitable. He added that, in the interests of the peace of the world and the restoration of international trade and communication. proposals of this character must be developed.
