The Athens correspondent of “The Times” says that General Kondylis, Greek deputy-Premier and War Minister, hitherto one of the strongest supporters of the Republican regime, stupefied Republican circles by publicly declaring that he hoped the coming plebiscite would give a large majority in favour of a monarchy, as the Republic had failed to stabilise political life.
