STAGE JUBILEE.
Marie Tempest Honoured by King and Queen. United Press Assn.—By'Electric Telegraph—Copy righ t. (Received May 29, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, May 28. The King and Queen were present at a charity matinee performance at Drury Lane Theatre this afternoon in honour of the stage jubilee of the great comedy actress, Marie Tempest. Their Majesties presented Miss Tempest with signed photographs of themselves and joined in the prolonged applause which followed Miss Tempest’s acting of her old and favourite parts. The company “ chaired ” Mis Tempest to the footlights, where she thanked the audience for providing £SOOO to establish the “ Marie Tempest ” ward for theatricals at! St George’s Hospital.
