SOMEHOW OR OTHER.
Tasmania Also Wants to Secede. PREMIER’S STATEMENT. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received May 29, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. “The rejection of Western Australia’s petition will certainly not terminate the smaller States’ fight,” said the Tasmanian Premier, Mr A. G. Ogilvie. “ Tasmania demands revision of the position, in which she is kept on the dole. I am optimistic, but in the event of failure, Tasmania is prepared to secede somehow or other. “ Both Federal parties have been for too long swayed by the voting power of Melbourne and Sydney. The continuance of existing conditions will result in the collapse of the Federation.”
