DOUBLE PROGRAMME.
The good double bill at the Theatre Royal this week is headed by the drama “ Housewife,” featuring George Brent, Bette Davis and Ann Dvorak. George Brent is well known for his accomplishments as an actor, and in this drama he is seen in what must be one of his best productions. He is starred as a college football hero, who marries and settles down to the ordinary every-day life. This proves a vastly different life from that to which he has been used, but he appears to make the best of it, and at the suggestion of his wife (Ann Dvorak) starts an advertising agency. In this new sphere he does well, in fact, too well. He engages a friend of his (Bette Davis) as an advertising writer, and it is when he takes this step that trouble begins. “ I Am a Thief! ” is a baffling murder mystery drama. Ricardo Cortez and Mary Astor head the featured roles and in the picture they have excellent scope to show what really outstanding stars they are.
