FIRST STAR TEST.
Schoolgirl Ski-ers Pass With Distinction. (Special to the “Star.”) THE HERMITAGE, May 27. When the competitors in the secondary school girls’ ski-ing championship, back from the Ball Hut, had finished dinner last evening Mr R. L. Wiglev, Managing Director of the Mount Cook Tourist Co., presided at the prizegiving ceremony in the main living room at The Hermitage. It was particularly pleasing to see how enthusiastic the girls were when next year’s competitions were mentioned, and the outstanding success of the 1935 championship has ensured that an even greater number of entries will be received in 1936. Looking back over the past week one reaches the conclusion that the girls showed more than average natural ability and. combined with phenomenal keenness, they were an example to all ski-ers. So rapidly did they progress that the majority were successful in passing their first star test. Following is a list of those who may now wear this badge on their ski-ing coats:—Misses M. Hanna, D. Kelly, A. Kelly. S. Hart, Daken, M. Bucklin, G. Baird, M. Simm, Rutherford, E. Crutchley, G. Jopp, M. Jamieson, C. Hudson, B. Elvidge. E. Moore, J. Edbrooke, J. Whiteside, O. Richan, A. C.
