OLD ORDER CHANGES.
A Woir<=ui at the Winch Controls. Per Prpss Association. WELLINGTON, May 27. After the R M.S. Makura, from San Francisco, had berthed, an oil barge drew alongside to re-fuel the mail steamer, but in place of the usual begrimed donkevman at the controls of the winch on the barge, was a neatly dressed young woman. The work of adjusting the oil pipes was in progress, and at the hand signal of the man in charge, the “ donkeywoman ” manoeuvred the main oil pipe into the position required. Judging by her dress, high heeled shoes and trim frock, the woman was only lending a helping hand, but she certainly knew the workings of the winch.
