HORNBY SCHOOL.
The final ceremonies In connection with the Hornby celebration of the silver jubilee of his Majesty the King were heldd in the Hornby School yesterday afternoon. The pupils were drawn up in classes, and? the head teacher, Mr F. E. O'Flynn, told the children that they were all subjects of his Majesty, and born during his reign, and woulciP, no doubt, value in after years a suitable little memento of his glorious reign. He called upon Mr McTeigue to address the school. Mr McTeigue, chairman of the School Committee, said that it was inspiring to see the whole school on parade, anc? he felt sure that each pupil would appreciate the suitable souvenir which h is committee had prepared, a well designed bronze medal which would keep the memory of the jubilee alive in their minds. The medals were distributed by tlie head master and the staff. A photograph of the group was taken, and the proceedings terminated with the National Anthem. A kowhai tree has been planted in the triangle, and suitable lessons on the jubilee were given by the staff on May 7.
