R.S.A. EXECUTIVE.
The executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association met last night. Mr B. O. Priddis presiding. Others present were the Rev F. T. Read, Dr F T. Birkinshaw, Messrs T. L. Drummond. W. H. Darby, (’. Chisnall, A. L. Emerson, J. S. Chisholm. R. H. Fleck, A. W Mewton and E. F. Willcox (secretary). Tbe employment officer reported that for the fortnight ended May 25. there had been 580 registrations. Work subsidised represented 195 men for 292 days at a cost of £73 2s 9d. Work without subsidy was- found for fifty-four days. It was reported that seventj'-flve sheep and two lambs had been given by Waiau residents for distribution among necessitous returned soldiers. The secretary reported that liakaia returned men desired to form a sub-branch in their district. There were seventy returned soldiers there.
