Heavy Sales This Morning. BREWERIES ACTIVE. Reserve Bank Slightly Lower. Sales completed at this morning’s call on the Christchurch Stock Exchange reached a high total, business ranging over most sections of the market. Values generally were maintained at recent levels, two exceptions being Reserve Bank and Rawang Tin, both of which sold at reduced prices. The Government section was quiet, offers ranging round late quotations. Among the banks Reserve scrip slipped to business at £6 14s 6d, further buyers being 3d lower, and sellers asking £6 15s. Buyers for Union of Australia were unsupported at £8 17s 6d. Reported business in National of New Zealand continued the recently levived activity, but at 67s 3d the price still looked lower than would be expected. Goldsbrough Mort were again quoted at low rates, sellers appearing at the last sales price, buyers 2d below. No sellers of Dalgetv shares put in an appearance. Interest was taken in the brewery section, and New Zealand scrip gained a point in dealings in four parcels, the market standing at buyers 52s 9d. sellers 52s lOd at the close of the call. Tooths were also up a penny to 52s Id. Dunlop-Perdriau Rubber maintained activity and price levels in further dealings, the market closing firm with buyers at 16s 3d, sellers Id above. Australian Glass and Broken Hill Proprietary failed to record business and sellers were offering at slightly reduced figures. Sales of Kauri Timber brought an unchanged rate. New Zealand concerns had recent keen demand, New Zealand Drug scrip being in request at 81s, sellers wanting 83s. Quill Morris (in liquidation) have been off the sales list for a long time, but quotations looked very firm this morning with buyers at 4s 6d, sellers at ss. Mining was fairly active. Big River holding to 2s 6d. Maori Gully seemed easier with business and sellers at Is 7d. buyers dropping to Is sd. Mount Lyell were firm at yesterday’s price.
