Miss Diana Fishwick's defeat by Miss Clarrie Tiernan in the first round of the Open Golf Championship was a big surprise. Miss Fishwick began badly. Few of her drives were on the line and she w’as four down at the tenth. She then fought back to one down, Miss Tiernan only settling the issue at the last hole of 526 yards, which she reached with two magnificent wooden shots. This was Miss Tiernan’s first championship.
