Citizens’ Association Wins Auckland Mayoralty. DUNEDIN TO LABOUR. Reports of the election results from other parts of the Dominion show the Citizens’ Association as having won the mayoralty in Auckland and Wellington. At Dunedin and Wanganui Labour succeeded. The two principal mayoralties in the North Island are now held by the Citizens’ Association, and in the South Island Labour remains supreme in this position. AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, May 8. Following is the result of the polling for the Auckland City mayoralty: E. IT. Davis (Citizens) 14,213 J. Sayegh (Labour) 13.813 A. J, Stallworthy (Ind.) 8.399 City Council and. Hospital Board results will not be complete until an early hour in the morning- IndicatiQns are that Labour is likely to gain seats on both bodies. All the suburban mayors were reelected except at Onehunga, where Mi J. Park had a decisive victory in a triangular contest against the retiring Mayor, Mr E. Morton, and Mr S. Vella (Labour). ,

Oldhan'.. J. M Carnahan, W. E. Davies, J. J. O’Grady. Mr John Stevenson, the new* Mayor of Blenheim, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, seventy-one years ayp. He came to New Zealand with his #a rents, landing at Port Chalmers in January, 1577. He completed his education at the Otago Bovs’ High School and then served a cadetship as a surveyor -with an Oamaru firm of civil engineers. He joined the Lands Department in at Christchurch and subsequently \*as stationed in Canterbury, Poverty Bas\ Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Hokitika being acting-Commissioner of Crowa Lands in the last-named centre. was transferred to Blenheim in 1923 a r Commissioner of Crown Lands and Chief Surveyor and retired in 1929.
