SPORTSMAN’S DEATH.

Mr J. R. Corrigan, of

Hawera.

HAWERA, This Day. The death occurred to-day of Mr James Randall Corrigan, the wellknown sportsman, at the ace of seventy.

I Mr Corrigan was a well-known owner of trotters, one . of his horses being ; .ian o War. which was twice winner of the Auckland Gold Cup. Born in New Zealand in 1865, Mr Corrigan began work at the age of ten. As a farmer he was noted as a breeder of stud stock, and imported pedigree Jersey cattle. He was Member of Parliament for Patea from 1922 to 1925, chairman of the Hawera Co-op. Daidy Company, chairman of the Patea Harbour Board, and chairman of the Farmers’ Union branch for many years.
