LIFE SAVING.
North Beach Competitions Arranged. A meeting of the executive of the North Beach Surf Club was held during the week-end, Mr V. G. Spfller (club captain) presiding. It was decided to bold the club competitions on Sunday, March 10. These include the Ward Cup, Wood Cup, D. V. Wilson Cup and the Belt Championship (a new event). Local arrangements in connection with the Canterbury Surf Association’s competitions to be held at North Beach next Sunday were left in the hands of Mr L. R. Moore (instructor). The captain, vice-captain and instructor were deputed tb select the beltmen for all competitions. It was decided to hold a “Ray Blank Cup night dance’’ next Saturday, in the Memorial Hall, in aid of the club funds. The dance committee will comprise Messrs L. R. Moore, C. R. Riordan, A. Brand and C. Rundle. The Town Clerk of Christchurch (Mr J. S. Neville) is to be asked for the return of the catamaran belonging to the club, which was taken away for use at the recent river carnival in Christchurch without permission andi has not been returned.
